Theophanies mean 'God appearing'. These are examples of Messiah manifesting in the Tanakh (Old Testament). Some of the better known ones include Genesis 33:22-32; Exodus 3:1-22; Joshua 5:13-15; Judges 6:11-27 & Daniel 3:19-25. The Person is sometimes referred to as either a Man, The Angel of the Lord or The Commander of the army of the Lord, yet on occasions they and the Lord are referred to interchangeably within the passage, the individual they meet recognises they have seen God and at times receive and don't refuse worship.
